How to have a safe Diwali this year?
Diwali is a beautiful festival of lights. People light diyas and
children burst crackers. However, bursting crackers have too many
disadvantages. The number of people that seek medical help on the night
of Diwali is quite high because of toxic gases emitted by firecrackers.
Hospitals and clinics are busy throughout the night. However, if you are
planning to celebrate this Diwali with crackers, here are some points
you should keep in mind:
- Quality of crackers: Crackers release enormous amount of smoke which is harmful for everyone. The smoke released by low quality crackers is much more poisonous and harmful. The authorized manufacturers manufacture crackers keeping the environment’s safety in mind and these crackers are safer than others. So ensure that the brand of the crackers is an authorized manufacturer.
- Instruct Children:Before you go out with children to burst crackers, sit down with them and educate them on how to burst them because the last thing you want on this festival of happiness is the safety of every family member.
- Keep a bucket of water or sand with you: Crackers often have the risk of not going off. Sometimes, the fire seems to have gone off but it actually hasn’t. Many incidents occur because one assumes that the fire went off and when he/she goes near to confirm, the cracker suddenly bursts. Keeping a bucket of water or sand in this case will help in putting off the fire and reduce the risk.
- Take a Medical Insurance:
This may sound like an exaggerated claim but medical insurance is important. This will save you the visit to an ATM in case of a medical emergency. Unfortunately, if there is some injury happens due to firecrackers, you can immediately seek help without worrying about the finances in any way. So, contact a good health insurance company and buy the medical insurance policy.
Diwali is a festival of light and joy. So while you plan to burst the crackers and make yourself happy, do not forget to spread that happiness too. Be kind and be generous. Donate food and clothes to those in need to bring smiles to their faces. And, remember to have a safe Diwali.
